System Architecture

Digifonica has designed an Internet telecommunications infrastructure that offers resellers a turnkey solution for Internet-based telephony. The infrastructure allows resellers to re-brand the services provided by Digifonica as their own. The Digifonica Internet telephony system includes all the necessary components to implement a complete Internet-based telephony system. Digifonica manages all the hardware and software components on our multimedia switching platforms in Vancouver (Canada) and London (England). The reseller is only responsible for setting up a subscriber-facing website based on a prototype provided by Digifonica, and marketing their Internet telephony service to their target audience and markets.

The Digifonica Internet telecommunications infrastructure is a complex system of hardware and software. The following are the main components of our system:
  • Multimedia switching platforms (in the United Kingdom and Canada)
  • A series of databases
  • The Digifonica Application Programming Interface (DFAPI)
  • A series of software components for call handling, administration, content management, account management, billing, provisioning, and more
Digifonica also supports three types of physical and digital connectivity tools for subscribers:
  • IP hard phones
  • Analog Telephony Adapters (ATAs)
  • Softphones
The costs associated with the equipment depends on partners and the plans that they offer. In most cases, the softphone is distributed free of charge to all subscribers through our web-based subscriber administration tool.
